Location candidates

This Google Earth .kmz file has a dozen location candidates meeting the various criteria below on this page. It’s updated with listings from Crexi, Redfin, Compass, LoopNet, Zillow, ReMax and Landwatch.

Parcels are outlined in red.
Autocross locations have blue pins.

To see the details and pricing: Right-click a parcel > Get Info > look at the “Name” field.
You’ll see the MLS number in the Name field. Copy that and paste it into your browser and you’ll see several listings for the property with details.

Parcel characteristics

A minimum of 200 acres provides for future expansion and noise buffering. This is the amount that is built on by the large raceway parks. However they are situated within larger parcels like Sonoma (1600 acres), Laguna Seca (542 acres) and Thunderhill (530 acres)

Additional nice to haves are:

Small canyon or bowl for the lowest possible track elevation
Southern exposure, reduced winds
2-3 acres of level ground for parking, staging and buildings
Ground water wells are common in rural California
Electrical access is not difficult in most locations.

Land use restrictions

68% of California land is now controlled or owned by the state and federal govt, no longer by private owners. These areas are shown in the colored areas of the map at left.

The colored areas describe land - both govt. and private - with additional state or fed restrictions that supercede local zoning. Westring can’t be built in these areas.

The white areas do not have these restrictions and Westring will only have to work with County planning for approvals.

Site remoteness and distance

Our customer demographic is Bay Area families and couples, for a day trip. We don’t want to require an overnight stay, so this means we need to locate no further than an hour from the Bay Area. Distance seems to be a less a factor depending how serious you are within the competition driving hobby.
